Visit Wyandotte County Lake Park and you just might spot the Kansas City Rowing Club in the midst of practice. Established in 1992, the club promotes recreational and competitive rowing throughout the area, participating in rowing regattas throughout the Midwest. KCRC also hosts introductory sessions and beginner’s clinics for those who want to learn the sport. If you prefer to spectate, time your trip during the Missouri River 340, a canoe race that runs from Kansas City, KS to St. Charles, Missouri. Participants have 88 hours to complete the 340-mile course, an endeavor that’s not for the faint at heart! The race starts at Kaw Point, and if you don’t mind getting up early (really early) you can help see the racers off.
